Bins Management #
The Bins module allows you to track and manage all individual production containers (bins) across your facility, assign them to specific facility rooms and stacks, monitor height positions, check active batch statuses, and print QR code labels.
Overview of Bin Features #
The bins table provides a comprehensive overview of your container inventory:
- ID / QR Code: Displays the unique identifier or QR code for the bin (e.g.,
bin-000019). - Facility & Stack: Shows the physical room and optional shelf stack where the bin is placed (displays
N/Aif unassigned). - Level: Indicates the height position level on the stack (1–99).
- Batch ID: Shows whether the bin is currently assigned to an active batch ID or marked as
Empty. - Actions: Quick-access controls to print QR code labels, edit bin assignments, or delete bins.
Filtering and Sorting Bins #
- Search: Use the search bar to instantly filter bins by QR code, facility name, or stack code.
- Sorting: Use the sort options (Newest, Oldest, or ID / QR) to arrange your bin list.
Adding or Editing a Bin #
To add a new container or modify an existing one:
- Open the Modal:
- Click the floating
+(FAB) button in the bottom right corner to add a new bin. - Alternatively, click the pencil (edit icon) on any bin row to update its placement parameters.
- Click the floating
- Fill in Required Fields:
- Facility: Select the target facility room from your system list (required).
- Stack (optional): Choose the specific physical rack/stack within that facility.
- Height Position (1-99) (optional): Enter the vertical shelf level.
- Note (optional): Add any custom maintenance or usage notes about the bin.
- Save:
- Click Save Bin (or Save Changes) to store the configuration.
- Note on Limits: If your license restricts the maximum number of bins and you hit the cap, BioStack will notify you and direct you to the license management screen.
Printing QR Code Labels #
- Click the print icon on any bin row to generate a printable QR label card formatted with the facility name and scannable container QR code.
Deleting a Bin #
- Click the trash can icon on any bin row to open the deletion confirmation dialog, then confirm to remove the bin permanently.
Tip: Maintaining accurate bin locations ensures seamless execution during daily operations like “Place Batch & Bins” and “Feeding Tasks”.
